Mohit Kamboj was born on 30 July 1984. Kamboj’s got fame was in 2019 when he changed his surname to Mohit Bharatiya. According to sources, Mohit changed his surname in order to inspire people to rise above creed, caste, religion, and other factors that cause division in society.

Mohit Bhartiya gave a statement in an interview “I have changed my surname to Bharatiya and this will be my identity henceforth,” he told PTI.

Mohit Bhartiya was formerly the president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Mumbai. From 2012 to 2019, Mohit was also the national president of the Indian Bullion and Jewellery Association (IBJA).

Earlier in 2020, Mohit Kamboj aka Mohit Bhartiya was booked by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for alleged criminal conspiracy, cheating, and forgery pertaining to a loan of Rs 67 crore from the Bank of India.

The state-Bank of India had claimed that borrowers and guarantors allegedly committed misappropriation of public funds, cheating, fraud, and forgery in connivance with its officials who “abused their official position” in the appraisal, sanction, disbursement, declaration of account as fraud and sanctioning one-time settlement with the company, they said.

The CBI carried out searches at 5 locations in Mumbai, India at the official premises and residential of the accused, including Mohit Kamboj, officials said.

The state-Bank of India had alleged that Kamboj was the guarantor and managing director in Avian Overseas Pvt Ltd, engaged in the manufacturing and export of handcrafted gold jewelry to Dubai, Singapore, and Hong Kong, and other countries.
