A year later he joined the Power Breakfast Show as a sports commentator. he was promoted to the position of prime-time sports anchor on Citizen Weekend with Lillian Mullally as the lead host, In 2013.
In 2016 Wahiga covered the Rio Games in Brazil and then released a tell-all report titled ‘The Rio Fiasco’, which highlighted the mistreatment of Kenyan athletes by authorities and the theft of public funds by state officials. He was then questioned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation on his findings and also testified before a commission set up by the Sports Ministry.
Waihiga joined the Politics and Current Affairs desk for the 2017 Kenyan general election and became one of the hosts of the new day’s 3-hour political show called ‘Citizen’ Extra. After two elections he became the only host of the show to give local and international updates to its viewers 5 days a week.
